What is language justice?

Language justice is an evolving framework and set of practices that ensure people can lead, communicate, and participate fully in their communities, regardless of the languages or linguistic variants they use. Rather than just accommodating linguistic diversity, language justice honors it.

Language erasure—the suppression of culture, identity, and unique ways of knowing through language—is a threat to migrant and refugee communities everywhere. While language access seeks to provide Limited English Proficient (LEP) people with reasonable access to the same services as English-speaking individuals, language justice goes further
